The Vandalia School Board held its annual budget hearing and then approved the Fiscal Year 2023 budget during its monthly meeting held after the hearing. During the budget hearing, Vandalia Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Garrison informed the board that she had not received any questions about the budget after it was on public display for 30 days and pointed out just a couple changes since the previous meeting. The bigger change was an increase in insurance as the district saw an increase in its premium. Garrison explained the increase was something seen across the board by the almost one hundred schools that are a part of the Egyptian Trust (the Egyptian Area Schools Employee Benefit Trust). After no questions by the board members, the budget hearing was adjourned and the board moved on to the full monthly meeting. During the action items portion of the agenda, the board unanimously approved the budget by a 7-0 vote.
In other action items during the monthly meeting, the board approved Transportation Route Pay by Trip Type, approved the resignation of Courtney Ulmer as VCHS TLC Aide and approved the employment of Melissa Briggs as VCHS TLC Aide.
