Mulberry Grove baseball used a big offensive output in their final at bat in the top of the 7th inning to surge past CHBC for an 8-1 win on Thursday. After three scoreless innings of play, CHBC would get on the board first in the bottom of the 4th inning when Gage Lorton would hit a triple to center to score a run to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Mulberry Grove would follow that up in the top of the 5th as Tristan Altenberger would single to left field to bring in one run and tie the game at 1-1. After a scoreless sixth inning and with the game still tied, the Aces would three straight walks to load the bases. After a strikeout to give them one out, the Aces would start rolling. Aaron Cook would be hit by the pitch to bring in one run and give the Aces a 2-1 lead. Carter Scoggins would then single to left field to bring in another run for a 3-1 lead. Jason Millikin and Jake Helmkamp would hit back to back doubles with Millikin bringing in three runs and Helmkamp bringing in one as the lead would be pushed to 7-1. Azel Erck would then single to bring in the final Aces run to make it 8-1. In the bottom of the inning, CHBC would get two runners in scoring position but could not bring either across the plate as the Aces would secure the 8-1 win. The win give the Aces a 2-1 regular season Egyptian Illini Conference record while CHBC would finish the EI regular season at 1-2. The two will now meet again next week in the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament.
