News Release from Metro Community Church–
VANDALIA, Illinois – Metro Community Church is breaking ground on their new Vandalia campus building on Aug. 21 at 7:00pm. The site of the project – located in Vandalia, IL about a half mile north of exit 61 – will house Metro Community Church’s Vandalia campus, which has been meeting in the Vandalia School District’s buildings for the past 15 years.
“We are excited about having a permanent home that will allow us to connect with more people within our community,” said Vandalia Campus Pastor Tim Weihrauch. “We are passionate about reaching the community, and this facility will allow us to do that with more intentionality.”
The future one-story facility will feature a 250-seat auditorium, a cafe, multiple classrooms, an office area, and a secure area for the MetroKids and MetroStudents ministries on the 15 acres owned by the church. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2022. The Vandalia campus is currently meeting at 1500 W Jefferson St.
“We are beyond excited to see all of what God is going to do in and through our Vandalia campus and the blessing of our new building,” said Lead Pastor Seth Conerly. “God has moved in mighty ways through our Vandalia campus for the past 15 years, and we are expectant that our best days are yet to come as we prayerfully pursue everything God is calling us to throughout the Vandalia community at large.”
Metro Community Church is a multi-site church with a centralized location in Edwardsville, IL. It was founded in 1991 by Paul and Melody Westbrook, and has since grown to well over a thousand weekly attendees across its two physical locations and online campus.
