(McHenry County, IL) — The first likely case of monkeypox in McHenry County is being reported. According to the McHenry County Department of Health, the virus was detected in an adult male who has since been isolated. While the risk of transmission is low, McHenry County officials are still urging residents to be cautious and aware of how the virus is spread. The CDC says more than 18-hundred cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in the U.S. so far this year and 174 have been in Illinois.
