Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City senior thrower Daniel Lucas has made it two in a row as he topped the field in the Shot Put to repeat as State Champion at the IHSA 1A Boys State Track Finals.
Lucas came into Saturday’s Finals at the top of the pack after having a best throw of 18.25m or 59′ 10.5″. That mark would carry over into Saturday’s Finals and would prove to be the winner as Lucas’ best throw during the Finals round was just under his best Prelim mark.
Lucas will now look to make it two medals on the day as he competes in the Finals of Discus at 12:30pm. He currently sits in 9th place heading into the Finals after a Preliminary Round best throw of 44.99m or 147′ 7.25″
