The Vandalia City Council at their meeting on Monday made changes to a liquor license and approved a new license at their meeting on Monday. But, the council did not discuss the possibility of funding for that business.
At the council’s April 18th meeting, businessmen Zac Kopp, Jason Paslay and Mark Meadows of PMK Inc. spoke to the City Council about their idea for a business at 2525 Veteran’s Avenue in Vandalia that would include both axe throwing and a golf simulator. At that time, they applied for a Class F Liquor License. That license is strictly for a bowling alley but as they pointed out there was not license that met their business description. So, at their meeting on Monday, the City Council was asked to amend the Class F license to include businesses that would axe throwing, rope courses and other types of recreational business. Alderman Ken Hubler asked if allowing a license for these types of businesses would leave the city liable if someone was hurt. But, City Attorney Ryan Connor says that’s not a major concern.
