CHBC Track seniors Jadon Robertson and Daniel Lucas continued their strong indoor track seasons with their performances at the Gene Armer Invitational on Saturday at the University of Illinois Armory. Their combined scores gave CHBC 36 team points for a 5th Place team finish behind 3A schools Normal Community and Chicago Marist and 2A schools Marion and Mascoutah.
Robertson took two firsts and a second place at the meet in his three events. Robertson had a best jump of 21’ 9.5” in the long jump, taking first place by a 4.5” margin. Robertson then ran a personal best in the 60m High Hurdle prelims with a time of 8.30 seconds and then turned around and ran yet another personal best with a time of 8.24 seconds for first place. Robertson rounded out his day with a second place finish in the high jump clearing a height of 6’ 3.5”, finishing behind Chris Taylor of Normal Community High School (a Class 3A school) who Robertson bested in the long jump event. Robertson currently sits in the #1 spot for 60m Hurdles, is tied at the #4 spot in the High Jump and should move to #2 in the Long Jump on the Illinois Top Times Class 1A Leaderboard after this weekend’s performances and will compete at the Illinois Top Times Indoor Championship Meet on Friday at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Thrower Daniel Lucas continues to hold his place as one of the top throwers across all three classes in the state with a second place finish in the Shot Put with a best throw of 16.92m (55’ 6”), finishing behind Alex Sohn of 3A Normal Community High School (18.33m) and ahead of fellow 1A thrower Jacob Wickham of Newton who threw a personal best of 15.86m for third place. Lucas continues to hold the #1 spot on the Illinois Top Times Class 1A Leaderboard for Shot Put and will compete at the Illinois Top Times Indoor Championship Meet on Friday.
