State officials are urging caution as you celebrate the New Year’s Holiday. At latest count, there were more than 21,000 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois, the second highest recorded during the ongoing pandemic. Illinois Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says if you plan to be at a party or gathering for New Year’s, chances are the virus will also be present.
Dr. Ezike says masking, social distancing and getting vaccinated are more important than ever right now. COVID-19 hospitalizations are currently at the highest level in over a year.
