Ramsey Lake State Recreation Area remains closed as storm clean up continues
RAMSEY, Ill. – Ramsey Lake State Recreation Area in Fayette County remains closed temporarily as clean up continues from damage that occurred as a result of severe weather last Friday evening, December 10, 2021.
The site remains closed temporarily today after the weather system that produced tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and high winds in Illinois last Friday night resulted in extensive damage to trees throughout the park. Downed trees, limbs and branches blocked roadways and littered many areas of the site.
“Our site staff at Ramsey Lake, with assistance from personnel deployed from other IDNR sites, are continuing work today on storm clean up,” said Von Bandy, director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Office of Land Management. “We will reopen the park as soon as possible.”
