John D. Anderson, 86, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021, surrounded by family, at his home.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Kurt Simon officiating. Burial will follow at Farmers Cemetery Rural Shobonier, IL, Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the funeral home, 1 hour prior to the service. John was born October 24, 1935, in Shobonier, IL, the son of John Leroy & Elizabeth (Frisby) Anderson. He married Sharon Kay Clark on December 11, 1965, in Hillsboro, IL. John was a lifelong farmer but started out working at the Johnson – Stephens & Shinkle Shoe Factory, and the Vandalia Lumber Co. He served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of SIU Carbondale with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. John was accomplished at billiards and was known as one of the area’s best snooker players, He was an avid Vandals sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survived by: Wife – Sharon Kay Anderson, Vandalia, Illinois; Son – Mike Anderson & Lori, Vandalia, Illinois; Daughter – Lisa Newsome & Eric, Vandalia, Illinois; Daughter-in-law – Marcia Lamb, Hilltop Lakes, Texas; 3 Sisters – Mary Alender & Clarence, East Alton, Illinois; Joann Tessman & Herb, Vandalia, Illinois; Nelda Cearlock & Robert, Vandalia, Illinois.
5 Grandchildren – Dalton Whitten, Catherine Anderson, Cassidy Anderson, Virginia Anderson & Emmalee Newsome.
Preceded in death by: Parents and 1 son John Anderson.
