(Springfield, IL) — Under a new Illinois law, insurance companies in the state will soon be required to report dog bite claims. The law takes effect January first. The pandemic led to a surge in adoptions of dogs nationwide and the insurance industry expects dog bite claims will also increase as a result. The Illinois claim report must include such details as where the dog was bought or adopted and whether the person who was bit was provoking or tormenting the dog in any way.
