Two individuals were killed in an accident on Interstate 70 this morning near Mulberry Grove. Illinois State Police reports say that a vehicle driven by 55 year old Bill Lard of Los Angeles, California was traveling westbound on Interstate 70, near mile post 55. Vehicles driven by 31 year old Ronald Grant of Pleasant Hope, Missouri and a vehicle driven by a 19 year old male from Bricktown, New Jersey were both traveling eastbound at the same location on I-70. State Police say the Lard vehicle—which was a truck tractor semi-trailer—left the roadway to the left and traveled through the median. The Lard vehicle struck the trailer of the Grant vehicle. The Lard vehicle then struck the vehicle of the 19 year old male, causing both units to skid into the south ditch. Lard was airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries. The driver and passenger of the Grant vehicle refused medical attention. The driver and passenger of the vehicle driven by the 19 year old male were pronounced dead at the scene. The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation. No further information will be given out at this time.
Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris reports the victims of the accident have been identified as 19 year old Cole Young and 20 year old Marsada Conners—both of Bricktown, New Jersey. Coroner Harris say both were killed along with their dog in the accident this morning.
