Judith Ann “Judy” Walker, 80, of Shobonier, IL passed away at 10:45 AM, Friday, August 06, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Walker will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia with Pastor Michael Mohr officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Judith Ann Johnson was born on October 03, 1940 in Mulberry Grove, IL, the daughter of Homer W. “Tex” Johnson and Dorothy Opal (Leidner) Watson. She married Donald Edward Walker on March 19, 1971; together, they celebrated 44 years of marriage before his passing on May 05, 2015.
Judy was first employed as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell Telephone. She then worked at IMCO. Eventually, in 1976 she began helping her husband Donald operate their new business, Walker Telecommunications; in which they owned and operated for 20+ years.
Mrs. Walker was a gentle woman of great character; she loved life and laughter. She enjoyed being a mother, her flowers, music records, and cooking. Most of all, Judy valued people; she knew no stranger and will be truly missed by all those who had the chance of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia and husband Mike Lagle of Widefield, CO; son, Kevin Guthrie and wife Rita of Shobonier; son, Donald “Shawn” Walker and wife Sharon of Clinton, MS; daughter, Elizabeth Walker of St. Louis, MO; brother, Larry Johnson and wife Gail of Fillmore; brother, Gary Watson of Centralia; sister, Debra and husband Dennis Graumenz of Vandalia; sister, Rebecca Branham of Vandalia; grandchildren, Andrew Richardson, Adam Guthrie, Julie Smith, Ashley Christian, Matthew Walker, and Heidi Ritchey; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Sgt. Sara Richardson; sister, Cathy Brannon; sister, Janet Dunn; and two infant siblings.
