On Monday, the Illinois legislature passed a bill requiring schools to stock all bathrooms with menstrual products. The measure applies to Grades 4 through 12, with pads and tampons to be available in both the girls and boys bathrooms. Bill Sponsor State Senator Karina Villa says it’s simple, no kid should be subject to an embarrassing moment at school.
But, State Senator Jason Plummer questions why male bathrooms are included. he says he’s heard from school janitors.
Lawmakers also passed a bill requiring public colleges and universities to stock bathrooms with menstrual products. Both still need to be signed into law by the Governor.
