Fayette County Health Department Administrator Melissa Storck and three members of the Fayette County Board of Health resigned during a special meeting on Thursday evening. The meeting was a continuation of the board of health meeting from last Friday that included a lengthy closed session before being adjourned at midnight and set to reconvene Thursday night. Upon opening the second part of the special meeting, Board of Health President Dr. Dawn McDaid opened the floor for public comment. Following three speakers, FCHD Administrator Melissa Storck addressed the board and crowd on hand, reading a statement in which she offered her resignation, asking for a fair separation agreement and the signing of a resignation contract. Following Storck’s statement, the board moved into a closed session for a half hour. Upon coming out of that session, the board approved to strike a possible motion for a vote of no confidence as it was no longer needed following the offer of resignation. Dr. McDaid then addressed the board and tendered her resignation and was followed by board member Kris Luster reading a brief statement and offering her resignation. Also on Thursday evening, board member Sandra Albright also resigned from the board. Thursday’s meeting was adjourned without an interim administrator being named and without the next step being announced. Board member Dr. Brad Dunn, the Vice-President of the board and who will presumably become the President, said after the meeting that the board will need to call an emergency meeting to figure out the process they will need to go through moving forward.
