Laqueta Joy Deutsch, 84, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 3:25 AM, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at SBL Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 05, 2021 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the funeral, cremation rites will be accorded and a burial will be held in McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Laqueta Joy Taylor was born on March 08, 1937 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the daughter of Eldon and Chloe (Story) Taylor. She married Kenneth R. Deutsch in 1961; together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Prior to the birth of her twins, Laqueta was a medical assistant/office secretary for Dr. Moore and Dr. Rames. She then was a homemaker until her three sons were of age to go to school; eventually she was back in the medical field working for eight years as an assistant for Dr. Rollinger. While able, Laqueta loved riding motorcycles as a family; she, Ken, and the boys all had one of their own. She also helped operate Ken’s Packaged Liquor, in which she and her husband ran for 20 plus years.
Laqueta was affiliated with First Baptist Church of Vandalia and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Mrs. Deutsch is survived by her husband, Kenneth Deutsch; sons, Steven Bennyhoff, Todd Deutsch and wife, Sherrie, and Timothy Deutsch and wife, Liz, all of Vandalia; grandson, Brady Deutsch; granddaughter, Megan and husband Eric Cannon; and great-granddaughter, Madison Cannon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Jimmy Deutsch.
