(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is requesting an extra million dollars in funding. The agency says the money is needed to help comply with the new Safe-T Act, a massive criminal justice reform initiative signed by Governor J.B. Pritzker in February. The funds would be used for staffing to improve reporting, research, and data collection related to deaths in custody, pretrial practices, domestic violence, and substance abuse, as well as for grant programs.
