A Vandalia man has been arrested in connection with vandalism reported in the downtown area.
Vandalia Police Department reports they were notified of a broken window at 6:12 this morning at the Vandalia Post Office. Shortly after, the Vandalia PD says they discovered more damage in the downtown area. Vandalia PD says there were damage reported at Vandalia City Hall, FNB Community Bank on Gallatin Street, Howie’s On Main, the Vandalia Statehouse, Something Special Florist, WKRV/WPMB studios, and the Fayette County Museum. The Vandalia Police Department also reports three broken flag poles on Gallatin Street.
Vandalia Police Department says that at 7:21 this morning 51 year old Rodney D. Tedrick was detained for questioning. And, at 8:04 this morning Tedrick was transported to the Fayette County Jail for booking. Tedick is now facing 6 felony charges for Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property and 5 counts of Criminal Damage to Property. The Vandalia PD adds the investigation is ongoing.
