The Fayette County Health Department has recently received some praise for its work to get the county tested for COVID-19 and to get the COVID-19 vaccine out to county residents and workers. During Tuesday’s nights county board meetings, Fayette County Board Chairwoman Jenny Waggoner informed board members that the health department’s work has been noticed and commended by officials in Springfield and says it feels good for Fayette County to be setting an example for others.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health COVID-19 website, Fayette County has administered 1,047 vaccine doses total, with 187 people The county is currently in Phase 1b of the vaccination process which allows vaccines to be administered for persons aged 65 years and older, frontline essential workers and inmates. With this group including a large amount of the population, it is expected that the county will be in Phase 1b for many weeks.
Well deserved, these people have been working their bejebus off throughout this whole event. I hope that this is under control by summer.
