Brownstown High School has brought back its agriculture and FFA programs this school year after many years without both programs. The fact that the programs are new again were a major draw for new Ag teacher and FFA advisor Cassie Perrin, a Michigan native who stayed in Illinois after college due to the importance of agriculture in the state.
Just a couple of months into the new school year, Perrin says even with dealing with COVID restrictions and the different type of school year, the interest in Ag and FFA by Brownstown students and the support from school administration and the community has been overwhelming.
Recently, the students participating in Brownstown FFA, some from the former St. Elmo-Brownstown FFA program when the students went to St. Elmo for the program and others in FFA for the first time, had a major first milestone. And we will hear from Perrin about that tomorrow on Newscenter.
