Three weeks after the bench trial was held for a Missouri man charged with grooming, traveling to meet a minor and possession of child pornography, a verdict has been handed down in Fayette County Court. 45-year old Shelby D. Weston and defense attorney Monroe McWard as well as Fayette County States Attorney Josh Morrison and Assistant Attorney General Shannon O’Brien were present in front of Judge Kimberly Koester for the announcement of the verdict. Weston was found guilty of Count 1 for Grooming, Count 2 for Traveling to Meet A Minor and Counts 7 and 8 for Possession of Child Pornography. Weston was found not guilty on Counts 3, 4, 5 and 6 for Possession of Child Pornography Depicting a Victim Under the Age of 13 as it was ruled that the there was no proof of the victims depicted in the photos being under the age of 13. Counts 1, 7 and 8 that Weston has been found guilty of are all Class 3 felonies which each carry a possible sentence of two to five years in prison and while Count 2 Weston was found guilty of is a Class 4 felony punishable by one to three years in prison. Sentencing in the matter has been set for December 17 at 1pm. A motion by Morrison to revoke Weston’s bond was granted by Judge Koester and Weston was remanded back to the custody of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Jail to await sentencing.
