After about four and a half hours of deliberation stretching into late Friday evening, a jury returned a verdict of guilty of first degree murder stemming from the 2017 death of a rural Brownstown man. 71-year old David Leroy Bright of Mulberry Grove has been found guilty of two counts of first degree murder in the September 17, 2017 death of James Skinner of rural Brownstown by way of blunt force trauma. Following the reading of the guilty verdicts by the jury on both Count 1 for first degree murder and Count 2 of first degree murder, Public Defender William Starnes had the jury polled in which all twelve jurors confirmed that their verdict was and continued to be guilty. Following the release of the jury, Judge Kimberly Koester set the sentencing hearing for Bright for November 10 at 1p.m. A motion by Fayette County States Attorney Josh Morrison to revoke bond was granted. Bright is remanded into the custody of the Fayette County Jail until sentencing.
