They are a company based in Vancouver, British Columbia and say the addition of the Vandalia facility will help them grow sales in the United States. They are currently the leading blanket promotional products distributor in North America. Kanata Blanket has purchased the former Land O’ Lakes/Purina Property at 1500 Veteran’s Avenue. And, Kanata says the addition adds to their existing company in Vandalia, Poly-Pak & Ship. Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman says he’s very excited about Kanata coming to Vandalia.
Audio PlayerInitial conversations began in early March of this year with Poly-Pak & Ship owner Fred Flegel, who was interested in locating in Vandalia because of his familiarity with the area, the workforce and New Market Tax Credit incentives that exist. In June of this year, Mayor Gottman, Alderwoman Dorothy Crawford and Vandalia Economic Development Director Amber Daulbaugh met with representatives from both Poly-Pak and Kanata to finalize the partnership in locating to Vandalia. In a release from the City of Vandalia, Daulbaugh says the initial discussion included the potential for up to 50 jobs realized by the end of 2021.
