Betty J. Miller, 75, of Vandalia, formerly of Brownstown died at 7:41 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia, IL.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the Brownstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Brownstown Fire Department & First Responders. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements. COVID 19 protocol including, but not limited to social distancing and face coverings will be required.
Betty was born on Monday, February 19, 1945 in Kinmundy, IL to Burdette G. and Alberta Faye (McLain) Brasel. She married Jesse E. Miller on October 25, 1969 and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2000. In addition to raising her family she had worked for Crane Packing in Vandalia. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, rural Brownstown, Effingham Chapter 110 Order of the Eastern Star and Sefton Home Extension. Betty loved vacationing in Branson, Missouri and her St. Louis Cardinals.
Betty is survived by: her son, Ted (Sherri) Miller of Shobonier; daughter, Julia Miller of Charleston; special friend, Donna Coonce of Charleston; grandchild, Ashley (Donny) Tate of Vandalia; 3 great grandchildren, Lexi, Davin, and Dax Tate all of Vandalia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Jesse E. Miller, 4 brothers; Dale, Benny, Neal, and Harry Brasel; and 2 sisters; Donna Roddy and Jane Ditton.
