A local doctor addressed the Vandalia City Council during their Monday evening meeting, citing his concerns and willing to educate others about COVID-19. Dr. Glenn Skow, the medical director for the emergency department at Sarah Bush Lincoln Fayette County Hospital opened by expressing is concern with the increase in cases the county has seen in the last handful of weeks.
Dr. Skow said he feels now is the time for everyone to take measures against the virus instead regretting not doing enough when it is too late.
In reference to being able to keep the local economy open and keep kids in school as they start the new school year, Dr. Skow says simple measures such as masks and social distancing are needed.
Dr. Skow answered a couple of questions from council members and Mayor Rick Gottman announced that Dr. Skow as well as representatives from the Fayette County Health Department will be on hand with more information and to answer any more questions at the next city council meeting.
