(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says he’s bringing in the National Guard to prevent rioting in Minneapolis. The Governor held a session with members of the media early this morning, and said the looting and burning down of buildings has nothing to do with protesting the death of George Floyd while in police custody. When asked why it is that people aren’t seeing the police and National Guard on the streets to help quell the mobs, Governor Walz said, “right now there are more of them than there are of us.”
>>Arrests, Injuries After Houston Protests Take Violent Turn
(Houston, TX) — There are hundreds of arrests and injuries in Houston after a protest took a violent turn. Police say officers arrested almost two hundred people last night who were protesting the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Most of those arrested will be charged with obstructing a highway. A Houston Police tweet says four officers were injured and eight police units were damaged during the protest. Businesses were also damaged.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The wife of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has filed for divorce. Chauvin is the officer who pinned his knee on the neck of George Floyd earlier this week, apparently leading to his death. Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder. Attorneys for his wife, Kelly Chauvin, said Friday that she is seeking “dissolution” of her marriage to the officer. Her lawyers said in a statement that she is “devastated by Mr. Floyd’s death,” and “her utmost sympathy lies with his family, his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving.”

(Washington, D.C.) — Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe is declassifying documents related to the case against Lieutenant General Michael Flynn. In the release yesterday, Ratcliffe says Americans will be able to trust their intelligence community as long as there’s transparency. The General faces charges he lied to FBI agents who were investigating whether the Trump campaign and Russia colluded to influence the 2016 election. Flynn had pled guilty but has since filed a petition with the court to change his plea to not guilty.

(Bryan, OH) — Necco Wafers are back. The multi-colored flavored discs wrapped in wax paper stopped production a couple of years ago. Spangler Candy Company says it’s bringing it back, because Necco Wafers are the kind of comfort food many seem to be craving right now. Major drugstores will have them back on shelves in June with a nationwide rollout in July.
