109th District State Representative Darren Bailey, along with his attorney Thomas Devore, held a Blue Room Stream conference earlier today to discuss the lawsuit filed by Bailey on Thursday in Clay County Court. Bailey says the lawsuit is over the special Emergency Management Act and that they believe this only allows the Governor to declare such an emergency for 30 days. And, Bailey says with the proclamation that was issued by the Governor on March 9th, it would mean his 30 day time period has ran out. Bailey says the Illinois General Assembly should have a say.
Attorny Thomas Devore spoke during the stream, as well. He this is not about the politics of the Governor or whether the decision was right or wrong, it’s just a clear legal issue.
Devore added there will be a hearing on Monday at 1:30 pm in Clay County Court in Louisville with the hearing to be on whether or not to issue a Temporary Restraining Order on the Governor’s proposed extension of the Stay At Home order, which would now run through May 30th.
