An Effingham man is in the Fayette County Jail after allegedly being involved in a high speed chase with police on Monday morning in Fayette County. Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says the alleged pursuit began by a St. Elmo Police Officer who then terminated his pursuit at allegedly high speeds. Sheriff Smith says deputies then found the vehicle going westbound on the east side of Bluff City. Sheriff Smith says the vehicle then went off the road on the west side of Bluff City and caught fire. The driver, 23 year old Jordan J. Kollman of Effingham, was arrested on a pending charge of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Police. He remains held in the Fayette County Jail.
