(Springfield, IL) — The head of the Illinois State Police is the latest to ask lawmakers to require gun owners in the state be fingerprinted. State Police Director Brendan Kelly last week urged the Illinois Senate to approve a fingerprint requirement for all FOID card holders. Kelly says it will help keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. The Illinois House already passed the proposal, and if the Senate agrees the new law would head to the governor’s desk.
