(Springfield, IL) — There are more questions about Illinois’ automatic voter registration system. The Secretary of State’s office yesterday said it forwarded the information on almost five-thousand 16-year-olds to the Illinois State Board of Elections to be registered to vote. None of the 16-year-olds were registered, but there are questions about why the teens’ info was sent over. In most cases, you have to be 18-years-old to vote in Illinois. This follows the news that the Secretary of State allowed hundreds of non-citizens to register to vote. More than a dozen of them did vote in 2018.
