Name: Carolyn Jean Hammer 78 years old of rural Moccasin Township, Altamont passed away peacefully on Friday Morning December 22, 2017 at 7:35 AM at the Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday Morning December 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul “Blue Point” Lutheran Church, rural Altamont with Rev. David R. Speers officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at the St. Paul “Blue Point” Lutheran Church and again for one hour or from 10:00 am until the funeral service time of 11:00 am on Thursday morning at the church.
Christian Burial Rites will be conducted at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Moccasin Township immediately following the funeral service.
Carolyn was born into the Christian family one of six siblings of Joseph and Cleo Musser-Phillips. She began her long life on February 4, 1939 at the family farm, Loudon Township, Fayette County, Illinois. She was raised in the Beecher City area and graduated from Beecher City High School with the class of 1956. Carolyn married Norman E. Hammer in the St. Paul “Blue Point” Lutheran Church, rural Altamont on January 11, 1958 by the Rev. H.T. Schmidt.
Carolyn spend her life in the local area as a farm wife and with her husband raised a family of 4 children.
She was member of the St. Paul “Blue Point” Lutheran Church. Carolyn enjoyed her family and was most active in gardening, sewing, canning, quilting and crocheting.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul “Blue Point” Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund and or the choice of the donor.

1 Brother-in-law Floyd Dial Altamont, Illinois
8 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
