The Vandals baseball team recently handed out their team awards for the 2017 season. For the Vandals, they set a new school record for wins and won the South Central Conference title outright, going 23-7 overall and 8-1 in SCC play.
Team MVP-Richie Well, Richie hit .544, stole 26 bases and hit 12 doubles–all leading the Vandals. He was also 8-0 on the mound with 1 save and an ERA of 0.92
Comeback Player of the Year Alec Schroeder, .300 BA with 24 RBI. He was also 3-3 on the mound with a 3.86 ERA
Blake Morrison was awarded best defense
Kelly Jones led the team in RBI with 33
Marcus Zimmerman lead the team in runs scored at 40
The most improved went to Garett McNary and Preston Ruckman
Nathan Casey led the team in HRs with 5
Matthew Wells and Thomas Ritchey were named as the team’s Rookies of the Year
