U.S. Route 51 remains closed at this time. But, according to the I-DOT website, just not as big of a section of the highway. The Illinois Department of Transportation website lists U.S. Route 51 as closed—only now being closed from the 51/40 intersection at Vandalia down to County Road 1300 North in Vandalia. The barricades and an I-DOT truck are still set up at the 40/51 intersection as the highway remains closed at that spot. Earlier it was listed as closed all the way to the 51/50 intersection in Sandoval. The road remains closed because of water and debris on the roadway
