As of 10 am the Kaskaskia River in Vandalia was at 20.4 feet–that is 2.4 feet above the river’s flood stage of 18 feet
The river is now forecast to crest at 28 feet on Saturday.
At that level, multiple spots on the levees are overtopped and it also leads to flooding in Vandalia, as the town branch area gets backed up and there are flooding issues in town.
