
Name: PAULINE MARIE DeVANTIER 98 years old of Altamont, Illinois was called to her eternal rest
peacefully on Thursday February 2, 2017 at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont where she made her residence for the past few years.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday February 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Altamont with the Rev. Bernard M. Ross III officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm on Tuesday February 7, 2017
at the Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont and again for one hour prior to the funeral services at the church.
Burial Rites will be at the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Pauline was born into the Christian family of Rudolph and Anna Proefrock one of 10 siblings. She began her long life on October 13, 1918 at the family farm, mound township, Effingham County in the Bethlehem Community. She was baptized at home on October 20, 1918. Instructed in the Christian faith by her parents and pastor, she grew as a Christian and was confirmed in her faith at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altamont by the Rev. M.W. Pott. She married Edward (Bud) DeVantier on December 27, 1941 at her grandparent’s home in Altamont by Dr. Rev. M.J. Naumann. Bud preceded her in death on December 8, 2002.
Pauline assisted her husband with farming and raising a family of four. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1932, where she worked with the Ladies Aid, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Sunday school and Bible Study as a teacher. She was also a member of the Effingham County Homemaker’s Extension and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
