Charles Warren Davis, 89, of Vandalia, Illinois, formerly of rural Effingham, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Fayette County Hospital-Long Term Care, Vandalia, IL.
Private Services will be held on Saturday, January 14, at Arborcrest Memorial Park Chapel, Funkhouser, IL, with the Davis family officiating. Burial will follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Funkhouser, IL, Memorials: Donor’s Choice. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 23, 1927, in Rural Effingham, IL, the son of Charles E. & Mary (Perring) Davis, the fifth of six children. He grew up on a farm six miles west of Effingham and attended Defiance School, a one-room schoolhouse with eight grades. After graduating from Effingham High School in 1945, he joined the United State Army, serving at Fort Knox and in the Philippines. Following his honorable discharge in May, 1947, he returned home to farm and successfully farmed his family’s farm until his retirement in 1986. In 2004, he moved to Vandalia. Warren was a lifelong member of Miller Chapel.
He loved God, his family, his country, and his farm dearly. He was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. We know he has gone home to be with the Lord, but he will be missed greatly.
He is survived by: Sister – Beulah Brown, Vandalia, IL; Sisters-in-law – Ruth Davis, Fort Myers, FL and Elizabeth Davis, Clarksville, TN; Nephew – Kenneth Davis Jr. & Rebecca, Fort Mitchell, KY; Nieces – Pamela Davis, Lakewood , CO, Cindy Brown Harding & Steve, North Richland Hills, TX, Lisa Davis Lipe & Mike, Clarksville, TN and Sheila Davis, Clarksville, TN;
5 Great Nephews; 3 Great Nieces; 5 Great Great Nephews.
