Ralph Edward Morton, age 86, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to service. Reverend William Emrick will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may go to the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Donor’s choice. Ralph was born on January 29, 1930 in Otego Township, Illinois to Ralph P. and Sophia S. (Scott) Morton. He married Linda L. Runge on May 16, 1958 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. He was a member of the St. Peter American Legion Post# 380 and the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Ralph enjoyed working outside and spending time with family and friends. He retired from Kidd’s Service Station of Vandalia, Wehrle’s Bros John Deere of Vandalia, Gateway Inn motels of Effingham.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Morton of St. Peter, Illinois; son, Phil Morton (wife Trena) of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister, Joyce Kidd of Vandalia, Illinois; four grandchildren, Ashley Morton, Craig Morton, Zachary Youngblood and Caleb Halverson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Sophia Morton and two brothers, Charles and William Morton.
