
Genevieve June Diveley, 99, of Vandalia passed away at 2:40am, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Fayette County Hospital.
Services for Ms. Diveley will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Pastor Terry Westerfield officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Genevieve was born October 12, 1917 in Sefton Twp. in Fayette County, the daughter of John Franklin and Julia Mae (Emert) Diveley. She was a secretary for Country Financial formerly Company Companies Insurance in Vandalia, she retired in 1985 after 36 years. Genevieve was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vandalia, where she taught Sunday school for many years, she was a member of the Vandalia Soroptimist Club and Serendipity. Genevieve was a giving and kind hearted women, she would make candy for the nursing home residents every Easter and Christmas, she did this for over 30 years, she and her sister Camilla have helped many children in the Vandalia Community by providing the finances and encouragement needed for a better education.
She is survived by her sisters Camilla Diveley of Vandalia and Beatrice Davis of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Bernice Scraper and Vodithe Reavis.
