Mary L. Lockwood, 93, of Vandalia, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, in Vandalia, IL.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Mt. Carmel Church, Rural Ramsey, with Pastor Greg Shannon, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Rural Ramsey, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 16, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the church. She was born March 30, 1923, in Bayle City, IL, the daughter of Albert & Rose May (Craig) Walstrom. Married James Waldo Lockwood on February 26, 1946, Shelbyville, IL, he passed away October 19, 2002. She worked at the Pana Livestock Pavillion for many years and for the Ramsey School District as a bus driver and later a cook. For over 40 years she served as trustee for the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Rural Ramsey, IL.
Mary was best known for her quilting. She owned and operated Mary’s Quilt House for 40 years and her quilts have been sent around the world. She was a homemaker and the best mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend; and a Member of Mt. Carmel Church, Rural Ramsey, IL.
She is survived by: Son – Francis Lockwood & Diana, Edwardsville, IL and Daughter – Deborah Grubaugh & Dennis, Vandalia, IL; 6 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; Daughter – Betty Ballard, April 4, 2012; 4 Brothers, Victor, Nova, Clarence & Gusta; 4 Sisters, Maggie, Della, Lillian & Myrtle.
