Dan Pruitt, 63, of Vandalia passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00pm, Monday, October 17, 2016 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Pastor Jerry Bagwell officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00pm prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family of Dan Pruitt.
Danny Ray Pruitt was born April 10, 1953 in Vandalia, the son of Wilma Stoneburner Depew. He married Nori Adermann June 23, 1971 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Dan was working at Vandalia Lumber when he and Nori were married, he then established his construction business A-One Building Contractors, later he taught Building Trades at the Okaw Area Vocational School in Vandalia, most recently he was an over the road truck driver for Lach Transportation. Dan was a Volunteer Firefighter for the City of Vandalia serving as the 2nd Assistant Chief at one time, he was a member of the GWRRA Gold Wings Motorcycle Association, and a Harley Davidson enthusiast.
Dan is survived by his wife Nori Pruitt of Vandalia; son Jeff Pruitt and wife April of Effingham; daughters Kelly Jo and husband Jason Garrison of O’Fallon, MO and Kerri Lynn and husband Joseph Patterson of Vandalia; grandchildren Dalaney Jo, Dayton Cole, and Dallis Kay Patterson all of Vandalia; brothers Larry Pruitt and wife Sally of Herrick and Lonnie Pruitt and wife Nancy of Arizona City, AZ; brother-in-law Maurice Wilson and friend Jill Wright of Vandalia; sister Connie and husband Kevin Edgar of Vandalia; brother-in-law Merle Adermann and wife Georgi of Vandalia; sister-in-law Genny and husband Dean Matzker of Vandalia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, loving grandmother Fern Stoneburner, granddaughter Brooklyn Renee Patterson, father and mother-in-law Ed and Margaret Adermann, sister Darrelene Wilson, and niece Laura LaNae Pruitt.
