The Kaskaskia River in Vandalia has reached it’s highest level so far this year over the weekend. But, will now begin to drop. Overnight, the Kaskaskia River in Vandalia reached a crest of 24.3 feet-which is better than 6 feet over the river’s 18 foot flood stage. And, some moderate flooding does begin at that level. But, the good news is the river is now coming down. The river is expected to drop just slightly today but then drop down to just 19 feet tomorrow. And, with no major add ons of water or rain, the river is now expected to drop below flood stage on Wednesday of this week.
