(Rockford, IL) — Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs is touring the state to encourage people to save money for college. Frerichs stopped in Rockford yesterday to speak about ways to attend college with limited or no debt. His office oversees two 529 college savings plans where individuals can grow tax-free investments to use for expenses such as tuition, room and board, books, and a computer. Frerichs says it’s important to manage any loans and not ignore them.
